The History of Youtube
Youtube is an online video sharing website where users can upload, share, and view videos from around the world. Youtube was created by Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim, three former Paypal (an e-commerce business that allows payments and money tranfers to be through the internet) employees. The offical name "Youtube" was activated in February of 2005, however, the website was developed over the months to come. Viewers were given a sneak preview of the site to viewers in May 2005, before the site was officailly was offically opened to the public.  Youtube consist of movie clips, television clips, music videos, and viedoblogging (also known as vlog).

About Youtube
Unregistered users can watch most videos on the site, while registered users are permitted to upload an unlimited number of videos. Some videos are available only to users of age 18 or older.Related videos, determined by title and tags, appear onscreen to the right of a given video. In YouTube's second year, functions were added to enhance user ability to post video 'responses' and subscribe to content feeds.

Within a relatively short time, YouTube has experienced much well-publicized growth, fueled primarily by online word-of-mouth. The website received an early surge of publicity when it hosted the popular Saturay Night Live short Lazy Sunday.  However, YouTube's official policy prohibits submission of copyrighted material, and NBC Universal, owners of SNL, soon decided to take action.

Before YouTube there was only Google and uses had to use that to search for videos. YouTube videos are constantly being used by many professors in lectures to give students a perspective that they cannot explain thoroughly.
